Goal setting: How to get a job using Goal Maker
To get a job using Goal Maker, set one specific goal, then add the weekly tasks that lead to it. Here is an example.
Goal: Get a job as a junior web developer in Sydney.
Start: today. End: ongoing, until you accept an offer.
Tasks:
- Apply for jobs. Monday and Thursday, 7:30 PM, 1 hour.
- Tailor your resume to the jobs you found. Sunday, 4:00 PM, 1 hour.
- Practice interview questions. Tuesday and Friday, 7:30 PM, 30 minutes.
- Message one person who works where you want to work. Wednesday, 12:30 PM, 15 minutes.
Make the goal specific. “Get a job” is a start. “Get a job as a junior web developer in Sydney” tells you which jobs to apply for.
Each task helps you reach the goal. Applying is the main one. The others make each application better.
To set it up in Goal Maker, add the goal with its start and end, then add each task with its days, start time and length. Open Goal Maker.
It is not a race. Tick off each task on the days it is due.
